The project raises the urban enclosure of the youth center and the future social dwellings with two autonomous and simultaneously integrated operations. At a volumetric level, the proposal raises a gradual increase in the height to the north, where we find the highest blocks of the context, in order to maximize sunshine and generate a smooth volumetric transition between the public space and the large blocks of existing housing. The Prosperitat youth center is the neuralgic center for citizen relation and participation in the neighborhood. The building must reflect and be the infrastructure for this reality: a place of encounter, exchange and debate. We propose a cloister type configuration, with the indoor programs organized around a single patio that can accommodate multiple programs and activities. This type, in addition to facilitating and promoting collective activity, is very appropriate in our climate to consider a fundamentally passive thermal management and regulation. The cloister typology has great potential in our climate to maximize the passive climatic behavior of the building. In order to make the most of it and reduce energy demand to a minimum, we have organized the area of circulation-relationship around the yard, so that it can act as a thermal regulator. environmental well being for the both its inhabitants, close neighbours and the city of Ripollet, by promoting autonomy, inter-generational exchange and proliferation of climate shelters. This Project is a pioneer residential facility for senior citizens: housing with cares instead of nursing home. Each inhabitant has private apartment inside a 25 people community having common kitchen, dining area and multiple relational spaces. The complex also includes general services (central kitchen, polyvalent halls, medical a physiotherapy areas), a day care centre and 600 square meters of public multifunctional spaces to be used by civic associations. Our proposal aims to multiply the scales of intimacy in order to allow for a high level of options to the residents, according to their needs and wishes and adapted to their diverse levels of dependency. Following an accurate study of the neighbourhood, the volume is organized into two double cloisters that shift their positions to articulate the public spaces in three: a civic public square to the east, facing housing buildings and next to the park, an inter-generational public square to the south, facing the schools and the interior gardens of the complex. The double cloister configuration divides each residential unit -25 inhabitants- into two smaller ones -12 inhabitants each- to promote close relationships between neighbours, while keeping a unitary management of the unit. All the meeting spaces, terraces and gardens have been designed to stimulate socialisation, healthy activities and provide maximum wellbeing to the residents. The site for the innovation center is a small forest between the factory and the parking, so it will become a new door to the industrial complex. The building will contain the research lab, exhibition space, a conference hall and some meeting rooms for presentations and workshops. It will also have a big terrace for outdoor events and community gathering. The project seeks to integrate the building in the forest following an overlapping logic. The overlapping should allow both the forest and the building coexist in a harmonious dynamic, not inferring with each other. Starting with an operative mapping of the tree trunks , we overlap on the forest a regular filed with similar density that becomes the structural grid and the dimensional pattern. The building floats in the forest, respecting the natural ecosystem. On the floating platform, for wood and cork boxes organize the space around an interior patio. The interstitial space between the patio and the boxes becomes the relational and exhibition space. The innovation center is not an object, but a system that coexists with the forest and could grow in the future following the system rules. In this context, we miss the presence of smaller squares that would promote social interaction. The proposal seeks integration with the characteristic morphology of the neighbourhood together with the maximum pedestrian and solar permeability between the surrounding streets and the interior square of the block. The building’s shapes have been adjusted in order to maximize the sun exposure of the square. The buildings are organized based on a regular grid that allow to distribute all the rooms and cores systematically. This system is reflected in the facades through a grid of lime concrete pillars and beams that frames each living unit and provides a domestic scale to the large volumes. All the dwellings are facing two opposite façades, enjoying double orientation and natural cross ventilation. This housing building makes part of the public housing network promoted by IBAVI (Balearic Housing Institute), a radical approach to social and environmental sustainability, as well as a very interesting statement regarding contemporary architecture. The organisation of the apartments aims to take maximum advantage of the orientation and climate conditions along all year, in order to achieve a complete passive dynamic. All units have double orientation, cross ventilation and an optimal insulation in winter and protection in summer. The position of the open staircase and patio have been defined according to a very accurate study of the predominant winds and breeze and the roof if covered by an extensive solar farm that generates energy while generating a ventilated roof system that reduces very significantly the thermic gains in summer. The construction system combines traditional industry with sustainable pre-fabrication. All walls and partitions are made of marès stone coming from local quarries and the horizontal structure is made of prefabricated counter laminated timber slabs (3x5 panels made of beams and panels). Windows and shutters are made of wood, following the local tradition. The result is a contemporary housing that balances austerity and comfort, tradition and technology in a fully sustainable and integrated building. opportunity to rethink the ETSEIB complex from an environmental perspective and integrate the architecture and engineering campuses in relation to Av Diagonal. The proposal seeks to integrate into the environment at two different levels: On the one hand, the project points out the strategic lines of the future transformation of the entire block that conforms the ETSEIB Campus by: Organizing of the voids and reduction of the heat island effect through the re-naturalization of these voids, mainly with the planting of trees and climbing vegetation that attenuates direct solar radiation on pavements and walls.Generating of new outdoor spaces for social interaction with a logic of climate shelter, comfortable in all seasons of the year, with special prominence in the new Plaça de l'Enginy, which will become the new heart of public life in campus. Unifying of the treatment of the plinth on Av Diagonal and on the streets of Adolf Florensa and Pascual Vila, with the aim of consolidating the unity of the island and improving its climatic behaviour of the facades. Arranging the volume of the new building so that it harmonizes with the approach of Robert Terrades' original project and contributes to enhancing the architectural heritage. On the other hand, on an urban scale, we propose a building that integrates into the sequence of volumes that make up the H block of ETSEIB, the school of architecture and the school of technical architecture, taking special care of the distance between them to favour good relations of views and sun exposure for all of them. The composition of the facade also seeks to harmonize with the existing buildings in this nearby environment, but with an innovative construction solution that minimizes the carbon footprint and optimizes its environmental performance. The formalization of the volume from the existing structure makes it possible to generate easily recognizable plants. The resulting surfaces are regular and easily grouped and fully respect the calculations established by the planning. This arrangement allows maximum use of the resulting volume. On floors 1 to 4, all common and circulation spaces revolve around the central atrium which becomes the relational and bioclimatic heart of the building. On the ground floor, the building rises to create a passage space that crosses the central atrium and connects the interior access from the campus with the entrance from Pascual Florensa Street. The basement floor becomes a natural extension of the ground floor itself. At this level, flexible and multi-purpose spaces are incorporated that serve the entire building. The combinatorial strategy of the upper floors allows to obtain a sequence of regular floors, with the atrium and vertical cores in the centre, the spaces of restricted use and controllable laboratories and/or classrooms in their surroundings and the general work spaces in the facades and testers. In this way, it is achieved that all spaces take advantage of the views, cross ventilation and natural light. The programmatic organization by strips allows for maximum versatility in the formation of spaces, so that the building supports groupings of laboratories or classrooms and work or meeting spaces depending on the needs or number of users that each may have plant At all times the paradigm of exchange of uses and functional adaptability is maintained since the project understands the organization of the spaces served (Labs or Classrooms and Workspaces or meetings) through the order and pre-eminence of the serving spaces (circulations , facility yards and support spaces) The proposal seeks to achieve very high levels of bioclimatic comfort in all seasons of the year. It is essential to be able to achieve this comfort and to do so with minimal energy and resource consumption. The type of building with a central regulable atrium, in our climate, is an ideal model to maximize bioclimatic functioning, reducing energy demand and at the same time increasing climate comfort. We propose a building articulated around an atrium that will accommodate trees and shrub vegetation, act as a climate regulator and guarantee good levels of ventilation and natural lighting in all circulation spaces. Taking into account the high requirements for insulation and acoustic autonomy of the different spaces, natural ventilation at night, outside the hours of use of the building, will be the most effective means of cooling the building. Based on that environmental strategy, the proposal incorporates solution to minimize all impacts (water and energy consumption, carbon footprint of the materials, minimizing waste) to go beyond de nZEB (nearly zero energy building) paradigm and reach de nZIB (nearly zero impact building) one. problematic location, an intersection of two speedways where 170.000 vehicles circulate every day, by organizing each housing unit around a gallery that mediates, both environmentally and compositionally between the domestic space and the urban context. The challenge of this project, made in collaboration with ONL arquitectes, will be how to make housing in a hostile environment. An environment with extremely high levels of noise and pollution produced by the passage of 140.000 vehicles per day. A difficult landscape to watch for the constant presence of automobiles running for an infrastructure on high, aggravated by milestones such as the vision of a power distribution center, the large volume of a gas station, etc. Although the immediate environment is quite hostile, the orientation of the building makes possible a distant view towards this - on the park and Santa Coloma - and towards the west - on Nou Barris and the Collserola mountains- from the major part of the apartments. The answer to these conditions will be to relate with the outside from a prudential distance, through elements that protect from noise, filter outer air and sift the vision of the nearby landscape to intensify the relationship with the distant landscape. Therefore, the rooms do not open directly to the outside, they are arranged encircling a gallery that will be a first resting plan of the glances, in which the objects, plants etc. That habit will leave behind the outer landscape. With the windows of the rooms closed to the gallery, the outside noise will not be present, and therefore life can be developed in a pleasant way. Ventilation is not done by facade to avoid both the noise and air intake charged with suspended particles, it is carried out with a centralized mechanical system on the cover that filters the impulse air and retrieves the heat from the extraction. In addition to the rental housing building, the possibility of a natural cross-ventilation for all rental homes through lighting patios is planned, although at this time it is not recommended for noise and pollution of the air, if it will be in the future without emissions. The site is a magnificent urban parc populated by numerous species of trees and riverside plants. The festival proposes celebration of the techno club culture programming 70 shows grouped in 5 different stages representing, each one of them, a specific club tendency The proposal stems from an accurate survey of the Parc to identify locations where each stage will merge with the naturalised environment to generate five cathartic atmospheres where music and nature get together. Each stage has been designed based on its integration with the context, the will to generate an environmentally comfortable space for both artists and audience and the techno music tendency that will be performed. Sharing a unitary approach regarding construction systems and material palette, each space results to have a singular character and aesthetics under the sunlight as well as at night, where lights projected in the architectural and natural surfaces help to create five different atmospheres that evolve along the venue. while providing the best relationship between interior and exterior spaces. A continuous open gallery surrounds the exterior façade of the building in its whole length, directly related with every living and bedroom, displayed in a 4 meters deep modulated belt along the façade. This configuration -modular spaces with an exterior extension- provide polyvalence and flexibility to the dwellings and maximize natural light exposure and natural ventilation. The gallery works as an extension of the rooms, generating an exterior domestic space for each, as well as a climate regulator. All the service spaces (kitchen toilets, laundry) occupy the interior belt, where a series of hexagonal patios (1 for every 4 apartments) provide natural light and crossed ventilation to each housing unit. From the environmental sustainability and comfort perspective, the project integrates multiple passive solutions such as thermic inertia, natural cross ventilation, sun protection and natural higrothermal control and transpirabilty.
